Property Tax Assessments for Failure to Display a Current Mobile Home Registration or RP Decal

Mobile homes that fail to properly display a current Mobile Home registration decal or Real Property (RP) decal are subject to tangible personal property taxation. Most often, a tangible personal property tax assessment is more costly to the mobile home owner.

The Property Appraiser’s Office is responsible for placing such mobile homes on the tangible personal property tax roll. RP decals can be obtained from one of the Tax Collector’s Service Centers. For location information, click here.

In rare circumstances, when a mobile home’s attachments exceed $25,000, the attachments are assessed as tangible personal property. Mobile home attachments include, but are not limited to: skirting, air conditioning, screen rooms, utility rooms, carports, etc.
